Karen first
started sewing for the public in 1966 when she made a bridesmaid's dress for
a friend. Within a year, she had expanded a little into informal dresses and
most of the work over the years has been mostly women's clothing. Over the
years Karen has made about a dozen wedding gowns from scratch to finish,
from silk to chiffon, even made up her own pattern for one. As this is a
time-consuming and therefore expensive process, most brides don’t go for a
custom-made gown. With the alterations schedule being so demanding from
April through October, she seldom makes a gown from scratch any more, though
she wouldn't turn down a job if that was the bride's earnest desire.
Services
Estimates for alterations are based on seeing the garment first, therefore
not given over the phone.
Bridal gown pricing will be based on cost of materials and labor, as well as
on how rushed the project must be.
Rush sewing is possible, even anticipated with bridal wear.
Alterations on bridal wear purchased elsewhere are welcomed.
Women's Clothing
Alterations range from hemming, to sizing for better fit, and some mending.
A
whole wardrobe of mix and match separates for a hard-to-fit professional
woman can only be done in the off-season of Oct.-Dec.
